Do you want to join our 45th Annual Bird-A-Thon but feel like your birding skills aren’t up to par? Well, this team is for you! The Fledglings Bird-A-Thon team is family-friendly and open to all levels of birders.
Register to be a Fledgling team member on the Bird-A-Thon website here. You may also contact Debra Stein at dstein@pointblue.org to sign up.
We will meet at Point Blue’s Petaluma Headquarters and walk a 2 mile loop that includes a small section of Shollenberger Marsh and part of the Ellis Creek Water Recycling Facility ponds. You can view a Google map of the proposed route here.
What to Expect:
The path we will walk is mostly flat with some gravel path and some cement sidewalk. The route should be accessible for wheelchairs, so folks with disabilities are welcome. We will likely detect around 30 species of birds and we’ll also take on the Marcia Grand Challenge of finding a mammal, a reptile, and an amphibian. Weather is variable, so bring layers. There will be a bathroom and water fill-up available in the Point Blue headquarters building.
COVID Safety:
If you are feeling any signs of sickness or have recently been exposed to someone with COVID, please refrain from coming for the safety of the group.
