Conservation Social Scientist
As Point Blue’s first Social Scientist, I play a cross-organization role supporting ways we can incorporate the human dimension into our research and conservation efforts. I work with the Roots and Bird Returns programs to better understand barriers to participation in conservation initiatives, thus advancing an equitable and interdisciplinary model for multi-benefit conservation.
I received my Master’s degree in Latin American Studies with a focus in Environmental Sociology from Tulane University. My scholarly interests include agriculture-driven landscape change, ecofeminism, and community-engaged research design. By employing participatory methods, I believe we can bridge struggles for justice in local communities and conservation priorities to induce positive socio-ecological change.
I spent a decade living in New Orleans, LA where I gained a deep love of dancing, music, and crafting – particularly sewing my own Mardi Gras costumes! I also love swimming outdoors, eating & growing local produce, and playing finger puppets with my daughter.
