Join in the 2025 City Nature Challenge in Shasta County April 25 – April 28!
Point Blue is partnering with Shasta Land Trust and the McConnell Foundation to host a bioblitz at Gore Ranch April 25th during the 2025 City Nature Challenge. Gore Ranch is owned by the McConnell Foundation and held in conservation easement by Shasta Land Trust. The property is managed through seasonal cattle grazing and last year CalFire completed a prescription burn across 900 acres of the property. Through Point Blue Working Land’s Rangeland Monitoring Network, ecological changes to soil, plant, and wildlife health are tracked over time.
The City Nature Challenge is an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in and around the places where people live across the globe. Cities and communities are working together to document organisms and species and engage people in community science.
This is the first year Point Blue is organizing Shasta County’s participation in the City Nature Challenge. Join us in celebrating the incredible nature and biodiversity found in the North State. To participate, just make observations of wild plants, animals, and fungi, anywhere within Shasta County, April 25 – April 28, and they’ll automatically be added to the Shasta County City Nature project on iNaturalist.
