Sierra Wildlife Ecologist
I am an Avian Ecologist in the Sierra Nevada team of Point Blue. I am passionate about conservation, whether at the local community or larger scale, and enjoy analyzing data to uncover patterns in wildlife populations that can inform conservation strategies.
My current interests include spatial ecology, biodiversity, and the effects of land management and restoration on bird conservation. I value taking an annual life cycle approach to conservation and view birds as key indicators of ecosystem health.
I hold a Master of Science from McGill University in Canada, as well as a GIS and remote sensing certificate from Humboldt State University, California. I earned my PhD from Oregon State University, where I worked in the Landscape Ecology Lab in the College of Forestry, studying large-scale bird movements and habitat use. After completing my PhD, I conducted postdoctoral research at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology where I focused on using birds as indicators of pollinators. A list of my publications is available on Google Scholar.
In my free time, I co-lead a bird monitoring program in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, where I reside. I enjoy collaborating on conservation projects and mentoring ecologists, and welcome opportunities to advise and work with students.
