Krista Fanucchi

Central Coast Rangeland Ecologist

As a Central Coast Rangeland Ecologist, I work in collaboration with TomKat Ranch Educational Foundation to conduct regenerative ranching research and develop partnerships with other land stewards, researchers, and conservation partners. I contribute to long-term monitoring that enriches our understanding of stewardship practices on rangeland ecosystem functions. I spend a lot of time in the field collecting data on soils, vegetation, and bird communities for Point Blue’s Rangeland Monitoring Network.

I completed a B.S. in Geography and a minor in GIS from Portland State University. Over the years, I have had the privilege to work on multiple avian and vegetation research projects in the Sierra Nevada, Mono Basin, Cascade Range, and the Marin Headlands. I also have a strong background in education and am fascinated by the intersection of humans and nature.

I love that my position allows me to connect with local food systems while also experiencing the complexities in which people and communities experience a sense of place. While not at work, I enjoy getting lost in a sewing project, watching live music, connecting with producers at a local farmers market, and hiking or running with my dog Fitz.
