2018 continues with more exciting captures of wintering species and some early spring migrants as well!
The new year brought with it some fun new captures for the winter banders and a few changes to the Palomarin Field Station as well. Read on to learn more!
The final weeks of 2017 brought busy days and thrilling captures for the winter banding interns at the Palomarin Field Station, including the latest capture of a Swainson’s Thrush in our 51 years of banding!
November marks the beginning of the winter banding internship here at the Palomarin Field Station. New banders arrive along with the last of the wintering migrants.
October was a busy month with capstone projects, North American Banding Council certifications, and lots of banding. Read on to learn about the common, and not-so-common captures and activities last month.
Fall migration was in full swing at Palomarin in September, bringing our regular migrants, and a few rarer vagrant species.
In August we transitioned from the breeding season to fall migration, said goodbye to outgoing interns, and welcomed the new crew. We also enjoyed captures of some of the earlier fall migrants, among other exciting captures.
